Why do polar bears hibernate in the winter?
In my recent research, I discovered that polar bears actually don't hibernate in the winter like other bear species. Rather, they continue their hunt for food, displaying incredible resilience against the harsh Arctic conditions. However, pregnant polar bears do enter a state similar to hibernation, known as denning, where they give birth and nurse their cubs. This period of rest, warmth, and bonding is essential for the survival of the newborns. So, while it's a common myth that polar bears hibernate, the truth is they are hardy Arctic survivors who only rest when rearing their young.
